Election Update…getting down to the wire!
With the Election just over 2 weeks away, there is a lot of activity and news to get out….
- Election Day – November 8, 2011 – Be sure to get out and vote, and get your friends and neighbors to the polls too. We have some tight races for City government in Oneida, including the mayoral race, and for supervisors in Cazenovia, Eaton and Hamilton. Our candidates need your support. My special thanks to all GOP candidates for your campaigns and for your service to our Republican Committee. It is no easy task to put yourselves out in the public, especially because some campaigns have been so unnecessarily nasty. Our candidates always take the high road, and I am grateful to you and proud of you all.
- Annual Dinner Recap- Thanks to all who attended the Annual Dinner at the Rusty Rail and to the dinner committee of Char Barres, Mary Ann Floss, Roxanne Jackson, Lynne Jones, Janice Hedglon, Ken Kunkel, Sherry Menninger, Denise Roe and John Salka for all your work. Truly a team county-wide effort as I realized that folks from over half our towns helped with the dinner. It showed. Many thanks also to our inspiring speakers of John Becker, Hon. Dennis McDermott, Matt Doheny and Keynoter Hon. Brian Kolb, Assembly Minority Leader. Our guest honorees of Arlene and Arnold Fisher were just terrific and we are much obliged for their years of civil service and for allowing us to showcase two truly special Madison County people.
- Arnold Fisher’s Birthday – I also learned that Halloween, October 31, 2011, is Arnold’s birthday. His address is PO Box 57, 156 Lebanon St., Hamilton, NY, 13346. If you are so inclined, send him a card or a note. I know he would appreciate it.
- Poll Watcher Lists & Certificates – GOP Election Commissioner Lynne Jones will have poll watcher lists and certificates available for anyone who would like them for Election Day. Town Chairs or candidates who plan to have poll watchers should contact Lynne no later than November 1st and she will mail them out to you, or you can pick them up in the Board of Elections Office up until November 7th, the day before Election Day. Call Lynne at 315.366.2234 during business hours if you need this information. Poll watchers are a great way to make sure our GOP registered voters get to the polls. This can make all the difference to get our candidates elected, especially in tight races.
- Madison County Courier Deadline – Martha Conway, managing editor of the Courier announced that this coming Wednesday, October 26th, will be the last edition in which the Courier publishes campaign letters and letters of support. Online publications will continue through Friday, Nov. 4th. The submission deadline for online publication is Tuesday, October 25, at midnight.
- Committee on Open Government – Don’t forget the Madison County Courier is hosting a presentation by Robert Freeman, executive director for the state’s Committee on Open Government, on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. The presentation, which is free and open to the public, will be held at Sullivan Town Hall and is expected to run about 90 minutes.

Last chance to RSVP for Annual Dinner….
If you have not done so, please RSVP immediately for the Annual Dinner on Wednesday, October 19 at the Rusty Rail….the registration form is here.
Update on Petitions and Summer Picnic Fundraiser
Town Chairs, if you have not already done so, please get your committee’s completed petitions to Ken Kunkel or Lynne Jones by tomorrow morning. July 14 is the last day to file the petitions. This is how we get our candidates on the ballot. A big THANK YOU to all committee members for passing the petitions and to Town Chairs for rounding them up and turning them in.
The RSVP deadline for the 7/21/11 picnic has been extended to 7/18/11 so it is not too late to RSVP. We have a good crowd coming already, but as the old saying goes “the more the merrier”. I’ve attached the invitation again for reference, along with the Chairman’s 99 Club information. Thanks to those who have already made a donation at the Chairman’s 99 Club level. This is a good time to give at that level since you also get admission to the picnic if you make a contribution to the 99 Club now.
Chairman’s 99 Club
I am pleased to promote the renewed establishment of our Madison County Republican “Chairman’s 99 Club” for fundraising purposes.
As the Madison County Republican Committee is preparing for the important local election cycle of 2011. Our strength is in our local governments. With so much at stake, it is more important than ever to get behind our Republican candidates who uphold the ideals of limited government, fiscal responsibility and individual freedom. Our candidates need to be able to communicate their clear-message of lower taxes, limited spending and prioritization of private sector job growth directly to the voters of our county. To that end, I am pleased to promote the renewed establishment of our Madison County Republican “Chairman’s 99 Club”.
The Madison County Republican Committee helps the campaigns of our local and state Republican candidates through, among other things, financial contributions, petition signing, advertisements, and the provision of poll watchers who help ensure the integrity of the ballot box. This takes our members’ time, which is given freely, but it also requires financial resources, especially with the rising cost of advertising and postage.
Can I count on you for a contribution to help us get out the vote and elect our experienced, fiscally conservative Republican candidates this coming fall? As an added incentive, in addition to becoming a member of the Chairman’s 99 Club, your donation of $99 now will also get you a ticket to our summer picnic scheduled for July 21, 2011 (see enclosed flier for details) and special recognition at our picnic and our Annual Dinner coming up on October 19, 2011. If you cannot attend the picnic, or would like to make a contribution just the same, please consider a donation at the Chairman’s 99 Club level, or any contribution of $10, $25, $50, $75 or more. Your support will assist us in getting our Republican candidates to the winner’s circle on Election Day, which will, in turn, help us improve our County for ourselves, our children and our grandchildren.
Thank you for your consideration and support. We appreciate your financial assistance for our efforts on behalf of Madison County’s Republican Candidates.
Sincerely,
Thérèse Wiley Dancks
Madison County Republican Committee Chair
Note, you will receive one admission to the Summer Picnic if you join the Chairman’s 99 Club at or before the July 21st picnic.
Petitions
The official petition season is more than half over. If you are a committee member, please be sure you are out getting signatures and completing your petitions in time to submit them according to your Town Chair’s request well before the filing dates of July 11-14, 2011. Town Chairs, please contact Lynne Jones at 315.366.2234 or me at 315.374.8699 if you have any questions. If you are not a committee member, please be sure to sign your local committee member’s petitions. This is how we get our candidates on the ballot!
Summer Picnic Date and Place
The Annual Summer Picnic Fundraiser will be on Thursday, July 21, 2011 from 4:30pm to 7:30pm at the large pavilion #1 in Chapman Park on Oneida Lake in the Town of Sullivan. Lorne and Mary Ann Rudy of Fisher Bay Restaurant will provide the catering. The invitation will be in the mail shortly, but I have attached a copy here as well. RSVP is very important for our caterer so please be sure to let us know you will be coming. Hope to see you there. Any questions, please call me at 315.374.8699.
